Our Story

Photo courtesy of Erica May Photography

We are Adam and Melissa Navinskey. The two of us grew up about 35 miles apart in northeastern Kansas. We are both the first-born children of two hard-working farm families. We were raised on production agriculture farms, and part of that heritage is involvement in the 4-H organization. Adam and I met on a hot August day at our county 4-H fair when he was a senior in high school and I was a junior. A conversation began, and many nights at the fair were spent talking as we sat on the tailgate of Adam's truck. We had our first date the following Saturday, and, as they say the rest is history. We dated throughout high school and college and were married in July of 2009.

There are so many stories to tell from those years, and I'm sure we will get to them, but for now I will take you to where we currently are in our lives. Adam and I are in our mid-twenties, trying to navigate through life, marriage, school, and work.

The Born to Pharm title stems from our current professions. Adam is a farmer; he works with his father and grandfather farming over 2,400 acres of corn, soybeans, and hay ground. They also have a commercial cattle operation of 140 angus-cross cows. I’m currently in my second year of pharmacy school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and working at two retail pharmacies.

We are passionate about the agriculture industry and passionate about helping people understand what takes place on a farm. The purpose of this blog is to provide the reader with information about the agriculture industry as a whole, in addition to describing the work and science that go along with food production from the farm to the table.

I will also share my adventures in pharmacy school, specifically about what takes place in the life of a pharmacy student, relevant topics related to the pharmacy profession, and what a pharmacist does on a daily basis.

We look forward to sharing a little bit of our lives with you. Happy reading!
